What is Moldavite?

Moldavite is natural green impact glass, known as a tektite. It formed from terrestrial material during the meteorite impact that created the Ries crater in present-day Germany around 15 million years ago. Moldavite is found in the Czech Republic; it is not a meteorite itself.
